Attorneys share how they started their solo practice fresh out of law school or later in their careers and the benefits and challenges of being a solo practitioner. This workshop is geared towards law students who are interested in going solo after law school.

2:00pm – 3:30pm Lawyering en Español: Using Spanish To Help Build Bridges Across Diverse Communities
How can we as Spanish-speaking attorneys use our language skills, cultural sensitivities, and our legal practice to help build bridges across diverse communities? Join us for an informal conversation at Lavender Law focusing on lawyering en español, the clients and communities we serve, and the movement for LGBT and HIV equality. Participants can share their perspectives and experiences, and explore opportunities for networking and collaborating across practice areas and with law firms or non-profit organizations in support of the movement for LGBT and HIV equality. CLE credit is not available for this informal conversation.

5:30pm – 6:30pm Financial Regulatory Reform Working Group Happy Hour
The Financial Regulatory Reform Working Group is excited to hold a happy hour for all Lavender Law attendees who work or are simply interested in financial regulation and regulatory reform. This event will provide attendees the opportunity to meet and reconnect with LGBT attorneys in this area of law in a casual setting. It will also allow interested attendees to learn more about the working group and its upcoming programs, including a discussion about the bar association’s potential efforts regarding Dodd-Frank Act section 342 and LGBT inclusion. The happy hour will be held just across the street from the Marriott Marquis hotel in the Press Club wine bar.
