Signing Statements Bill Introduced The nation may be about to get a civics lesson with an in-depth look at one of the core values of the republic. Or there might simply be a shrug. That’s the scenario after a powerful Republican senator introduced legislation Wednesday suggested by an ABA task force report questioning the Bush administration’s use of presidential signing statements. They are strong calls for strong action, but they rub against what has been, at least until recently, a cohesive one-party lock on the legislative and executive branches of government. . . . more . . .
