The 2010 Dan Bradley Award
The National LGBT Bar Association is proud to announce Jon W. Davidson as the recipient of the 2010 Dan Bradley Award, the organization’s highest honor. Jon Davidson is the Legal Director for Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of LGBT individuals and individuals with HIV. Mr. Davidson has been working full-time as an LGBT rights lawyer for more than 22 years.
“Jon Davidson’s hard work and vision have delivered some of the most important victories in the legal struggle for LGBT equality,” said D’Arcy Kemnitz, Executive Director of the National LGBT Bar Association. “On behalf of our members, we would like to offer our congratulations and gratitude for all he has done on behalf of the LGBT community.”
Each year, the LGBT Bar recognizes the efforts of a member of the LGBT legal community whose work, like Attorney Dan Bradley, has led the way in our struggle for equality under the law. Dan Bradley was the founder of the American Bar Association Section of Individual Rights and Responsibility's Committee on the Rights of Gay People (now known as the ABA’s Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity).
“Like Dan Bradley, Jon Davidson sees the law as a powerful instrument of social justice” said Kemnitz. “Every day, Jon and his team at Lambda Legal place their skills as advocates at the service of a vulnerable community. He is long overdue for this honor.”
The 2010 Dan Bradley Award will be presented on August 26, 2010 as part of the Lavender Law Conference in Miami Beach, Florida.
About the Dan Bradley Award:
The Dan Bradley Award is LGBT Bar's highest honor. It recognizes the efforts of a member of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal community whose
work, like Attorney Dan Bradley, has led the way in our struggle for equality under the law. Dan Bradley was the first chair of the American Bar Association Section of Individual Rights and Responsibility's Committee on the Rights of Gay People, now known as the Committee for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. Bradley saw the law as a powerful instrument of social justice, and he believed that lawyers had an obligation to place their skills as advocates at the service of the least powerful among us.
