Domestic Partner Benefits for Federal Employees
The Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act of 2009 has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin and in the Senate by Senators Joseph Lieberman and Susan Collins. The bill, which would provide employment benefits to the domestic partners of federal employees, states, in part:
An employee who has a domestic partner and the domestic partner of the employee shall be entitled to benefits available to, and shall be subject to obligations imposed upon, a married employee and the spouse of the employee.
