National LGBT Bar Association to Honor Google Attorney Hilary Ware
Out and Proud In-House Counsel Award Honors LGBT Equality Efforts
The National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Bar Association announced today that Hilary Ware, Managing Litigation Counsel at Google, Inc. will be awarded the organization’s Out and Proud In-House Counsel award in San Francisco on Thursday, June 4th. The award is given in recognition of outstanding attorneys’ efforts to expand LGBT equality in their workplace and through their connections to the wider world.
“We’re very happy to be working with Hilary Ware again, and delighted to have a hand in giving her some of the acknowledgment for her commitment to LGBT diversity in the profession that she so richly deserves,” said D’Arcy Kemnitz, the Executive Director of the National LGBT Bar Association. “Ms. Ware has spoken out time and again for LGBT diversity, and her words have reverberated outward, encouraging equality and inspiring our straight allies to develop a culture of inclusion.”
The Out and Proud In-House Counsel award is presented by the LGBT Bar Association’s Corporate Counsel Steering Committee, which advises the Association on programming, events, and policies that will provide corporate counsel with the information they need to excel in today’s environment.
“The Corporate Counsel Steering Committee is an initiative that is very important to this organization,” explained D’Arcy. “Every day, more and more organizations are recognizing the unique perspective and abilities offered by their LGBT employees. This reception gives LGBT legal professionals the chance to network, create programming focused on their needs and issues, while working together to find ways to expand LGBT equality.”
